Double Duty Home Staging Tips!

Selling your home can be exciting, but the packing, and the cleaning, and all those fun tasks that come along with it can really pile on the stress! But there's a silver lining! What if you could pack and clean your way to a quicker sale? Yes! It’s true!

Home staging is so important when showing your home. Good staging can make a potential buyer feel right at home- and that's what we want, right? So, since you're getting ready for the big move anyways, why not make the most of what you're already doing with these home staging tips that you can do as you're packing your way to a sale!

  1. Get organized. Chances are, you have A TON of stuff that you don’t use daily, or monthly, or even yearly! Pack these items first. You won’t miss them, and the added space you will have will make your storage areas seem bigger. Use a storage facility or neatly stack moving boxes in the basement or garage- you will want this area easy to get to later on.
  2. Depersonalize. Even though you may love to be surrounded by family photos, or that “amazing” pottery your kids made at school, potential buyers don’t really see the value in that kind of decor. They want to imagine their family memories being made in the home, not yours. So pack them up (carefully) and save them for your future digs.
  3. Try a new layout. What may be easy for you to live with may not be the best for the space. Did you need more space in the living room for the kids so you pushed all the furniture against the walls? You did? Yeah well so did many, many other people- and that's ok! But you're moving, so now is the time to make that layout look more beautiful rather than just functional. Try creating a more intimate conversation area, instead of a kids play area.
  4. Less is more. When it comes to decor, whether on the wall or on a shelf, sometimes we add and add… until there is no more room to add anymore. The good news? You have to pack all this stuff away anyways remember? As you're packing, keep only a few, eye catching items out for display. Remember they are going buy the shelf, not the stuff that’s on the shelf. They are buying the wall, not the artwork on it.
  5. Clean it, clean it all! Your usual weekly cleaning isn’t going to cut it this time. Now that you can see your home's bones more clearly (thanks to all that fun packing you just did), spend the extra time and REALLY look at the house. When was the last time you cleaned that molding? How about that ceiling fan? How about that dust in between every spindle on that gorgeous wood staircase? Yes, you need to clean that too.

These easy additions to the packing process can do wonders for future showings! And the good news is, they are easy to live with- even though the goal is NOT live with them for long! So get packing, and give us a call to get selling!
