It's Leaf Peeping Season!

Fall. Bring on the plaid, sweaters, and pumpkin spice. Here in the Adirondacks though, it’s the LEAVES that reign supreme. Our region boasts a vast array of tree species that change their leaf color around this time of year – from Red Maple, to Yellow Birch, the full spectrum of rich fall colors can be seen here.

According to Adirondack.net, "the Adirondack Park provides excellent fall foliage viewing because the deciduous tree population is dominated by only a few species, which all change colors more or less in unison. This provides all-over color at one peak time, which is rare in other parts of the world.”

Beginning the last week of September, the change in color starts at the top of the trees and works its way down. Then, the colors melt down the trees throughout October, creating a flush of red and orange. The Adirondack.net Fall Foliage Map below can help you catch the show and just the right time!

Why not try a fall hike to one of the Adirondack’s many peaks to get a glimpse?

We are lucky to be surrounded by this type of natural beauty year round, but fall gives us an extra special display. We would love to see your Adirondack fall foliage pictures, too! Please share them with us via Facebook Messenger and your photo could be featured on our Instagram!

Now get out there, and enjoy the show!
