Welcome to the Adirondacks
The Adirondack Park is a part of New York's Forest Preserve in Upstate New York. The park covers approximately 6.1 million acres, that is more than Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Glacier and Great Smoky Mountain National Parks combined. However, unlike other parks, about 57 per cent of the land is privately-owned.
Old Forge, New York and the Central Adirondack Region has much to offer. It is truly a four season recreational area. In the summer some of the many include boating, golf, water skiing, fishing, canoeing, hiking, swimming and mountain biking.
Winter enthusiasts can enjoy downhill skiing at McCauley Mountain, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, ice skating, ice fishing and snowmobiling. The well-groomed snowmobile trail system which is often referred to as the "Snowmobile Capital of the East".
Spring, summer and fall are excellent time to enjoy white water rafting, canoeing and kayaking. Sportsmen have ideal hunting for big and small game.
The region is home to various recreational facilities. Among these is McCauley Mountain, which operates its chair lift during the summer and fall months providing a fantastic view of the region. Old Forge also has Enchanted Forest/Water Safari, Adirondack Scenic Railroad, Old Forge Lake Cruises, Raquette Lakhttp://www.raquettelakenavigation.com/e Navigation, Thendara Golf Club, Inlet Golf Club, View (Old Forge's new Arts Center), The Town of Webb Historical Association's Goodsell Museum, three miniature golf courses, a movie theater and public swimming beach.
