The Trail is Calling!
-Know when to go! Check out our September blog post for a great guide to the changing leaves.
-Dress in layers! The temperature can fluctuate quite a bit throughout the day, so make sure you are prepared for any surprises.
-Time it right! I know it’s sad, but the days are getting shorter, meaning less daylight to hike in. Be prepared for the onset of premature darkness by starting early and bringing adequate light sources incase you stay out a little longer than expected.
-Stay safe! Hunting season is here, so take the appropriate actions to make your presence is known to hunters, like wearing bright colors (orange is best) and staying out of the trails during the prime hunting times- early morning and dusk.
-Enjoy a campfire the right way! Campfires are a must when backpacking overnight, but remember your manners. Check out the Leave No Trace 7 Principles for guidelines and tips!
-And of course, drink water! You may not sweat as much as you did on your June hike, but you still need to stay hydrated! Bring enough for the day, and extra too!
With so many places to explore in the Adirondack region, why not take advantage of everything the Fall season has to offer! Planning a trip? Message us your photos through Facebook Messenger and you may be featured on our Instagram!
